Destress with CorePower Yoga

The Gift that Keeps on Giving

Wellness from CorePower Yoga

While the holiday season is coming to a close, it isn’t over quite yet. The holiday season can be stressful – long shopping lines, heavy traffic, hours of standing – cooking in the kitchen and more. And while Christmas may be over, New Years Eve is tomorrow! You still have to find the perfect NYE dress, or finish the last minute details on the NYE party you’re hosting.

CorePower Yoga wants to help you destress! A regular yoga practice increases flexibility and strength in your muscles and promotes long, lean looking muscle tone. And, the meditative benefits of a complete yoga practice result in a calmer state of mind, which reduces stress and promotes happiness. To help with the process CorePower Yoga Instructor, Lacey, is showing us some of her favorite poses. This holiday season, give yourself the gift of wellness.

Gate Pose

Gate pose is great for stretching your spine and side body, while stimulating the abdominal organs. This one feels great after maybe too many holiday cookies!

Headstand

Headstand can become a daily pose during the holidays. Flip on your head in to handstand to trigger the lymphatic system in to action, and help remove toxins from your body. This inversion relieves stress, increases focus and strengthens shoulders and arms.

Skandasana

Due to long days spent on your feet (#shoptilyoudrop?), this pose gives you a nice stretch in your hamstrings and hips. It also improves balance and stretches the feet for shopping those after christmas sales!

Seated Forward Fold

The entire back of your body benefits from this pose, as well as the calming of your mind.  This is a fantastic one to do before bed to allow a great night’s sleep before the busy days ahead.

Seated Twist

Cleansing and refreshing: the two words we need to hear during (and after) the holidays!  And this pose does just that. Wring out the internal organs and stretch your lower back with this grounding posture.

Thread the Needle

We often hold tension in our upper back and shoulders.  This calming posture releases tension in all the right areas of your neck to feel much more relaxed this holiday season!
