Healthy Summer Cocktails to Enjoy All Year

Winter is in full swing but we’re day dreaming about summer! And the best way to enjoy a little bit of summer on the off season… A delicious Summer cocktail! But it’s a new year and we can’t forget about all the hard work we’ve been putting into our healthy New Year’s resolutions these last few weeks. We knew our favorite health and fitness guru, Katie of LOVE SWEAT FITNESS, would have the answer. We asked Katie her advice, and she gave us recipes for a few of her favorite Healthy Summer Cocktails that we can enjoy any time of year:

LA PALOMA

La Paloma is a local favorite in Mexico on a hot day. It’s traditionally made with grapefruit soda, but I am putting a fresh spin on it. My version cuts calories and reduces the sugar. Plus, by using fresh grapefruit juice you get the added benefits of vitamin C and potassium along with tons of other vitamins and minerals.

2 ounces Blanco Tequila

6 ounces Fresh squeezed grapefruit juice

½ ounce Lime  juice

¼ – ½ c Sparkling mineral water

240 calories, 27 sugar                      190 calories, 16g sugar

TEQUILA LIME SPRITZER

I love margaritas, but they can ruin all the hard work you put in at the gym. Did you know that a standard margarita has about 600 calories? YIKES! It’s just not worth it. This spritzer is a perfect way to get the flavor you love without all the extra stuff.

2 ounces Tequila

¼ c Fresh squeezed lime juice

1 Tbs Raw Honey

Fill remaining glass with Sparkling mineral water

600 calories, >30g sugar                  160 calories, 16g sugar

**If you like a little spice, muddle a teaspoon of jalapeno, chopped, into your drink!

POMEGRANATE LIME MOCKTAIL

If you haven’t quite hit 21, or you’re just on one of those “I’m never drinking again” kicks, this is the drink for you. It’s a perfect balance of sweet and tart and packed full of antioxidants!

1 Tbs Fresh squeezed lime juice

¼ c Pomegranate juice (100% no sugar added)

Fill remaining glass with Sparkling mineral water
